Charity and Community

Outreach

At The Pointer School, our children engage in the local and wider community through our extensive charity work. We support local charities such as Greenwich Foodbank, donating over 350 bags of food annually, and Lewisham Met Police Christmas Appeal, purchasing Christmas presents for children in need throughout our borough.

Through our close ties with St John’s Church, we support the Tanzanian Breakfast Fund, providing breakfast for children at a school in Musoma. The School Council regularly puts forward proposals for one-off charity events that they feel drawn to, such as selling fruit kebabs to adopt a penguin at London Zoo! Our House Captains also run an annual House Charity Week where the children compete to see which house can raise the most money for their chosen charity.

We believe in the value of community and are well known throughout Blackheath. Our school supports local businesses and regularly visits Mycenae House, a local community centre, and Morden College, a nearby care home. Our older pupils visit the residents to celebrate holidays, singing carols at Christmas and ushering at a St Valentine’s dance, and our Early Years department visit Morden College weekly to share stories and games with the residents. This brings delight to both the young and old!
