First founded in 1950 by Muriel and Dela Pointer, The Pointer School has been educating children in Blackheath for over 70 years. The Pointer sisters ran "The Pointer Dance School" from the 1920s until the founding of the prep school, on its current site at Stratheden Road.
Over the following 70 years, The Pointer School has flourished and grown into a large successful Prep and Pre-Prep school, while still retaining its quirky character and Christian family ethos. To find out what makes us truly unique, why not come and visit to see for yourself?
Born in the late 19th century, the Pointer sisters lived a colourful life. Early on, they developed a passion for dance and education. In the 1920s they opened The Pointer Dance School. The dance school was a huge success and won many national awards and competitions but as time went by the sisters wanted to broaden their mission from just dance. After purchasing a beautiful double-fronted building on Stratheden Road in Blackheath, they founded The Pointer School in 1950 to educate children from Nursery through to the end of prep school.

The Pointer sisters, Muriel and Dela founded a nursery and prep school on Stratheden Road in Blackheath.
Mr & Mrs Newcombe take over the school from the Pointer sisters.
Mr & Mrs Higgins take over the school. All four of their children were educated at Pointers.
The school becomes part of the Dukes Education family. Together we're extraordinary.
